Research Shows... Facts About ADHD
There are a lot of theories about ADHD, and a few of them are actually based in fact. I recently ran across some information from the National Institutes of Mental Health that I found really interesting. First off, brain imaging using MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) actually shows differences between the brains of kids with ADHD and kids without ADHD. There also does seem to be a sugar link in ADHD, but not what many people suspect. In adults with ADHD, the areas of the brain that control attention use less glucose and appear less active than the brains of people without ADHD. Research also shows a genetic link in ADHD, though it's still not clear exactly what causes Attention Deficit...

Signs and Symptoms of ADD
The signs of Attention Deficit Disorder may or may not be incredibly apparent. Because of the intricacies of this disorder and the variations from child to child, diagnosis may prove to be a difficult process. The first step is understanding that hyperactivity is not synonymous with Attention Deficit Disorder. While a child may exhibit an increased level of activity with this disorder, it is not an inherent factor of ADD. On the other hand, there are certain characteristics that are prevalent in a child with ADD, such as inattentiveness, impulsiveness, and being easily distracted. Inattentiveness and distractibility go hand and hand. A child with ADD may have a...

Symptoms and Treatments of ADD
Attention Deficit Disorder is a condition that affects both children and adults, though it is more commonly diagnosed in children. Attention Deficit Disorder, also known as "ADD" is diagnosed in individuals who have difficulty paying attention or staying focused for long periods of time. Children with ADD often have trouble concentrating in class. Some display symptoms such as high energy, restlessness, waiting until the last minute to do assignments, having trouble concentrating on and completing assignments, and disruptive behavior. Other children are calm and seem distant. Some doodle or stare out the window while class is being taught, rather than pay attention. Children with ADD...

ADHD Help

Author:
Kristy Annely

ADHD is an acronym that stands from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This disorder is more common in males. It is generally diagnosed by the age of seven and is usually accompanied by a learning disability.

There has been a great debate when it comes to the primary cause of this disorder. Most medical experts agree that ADHD is attributed to a chemical imbalance in the part of the brain that controls the ability to maintain attention. Most also blame genetics as a contributing factor in developing ADHD. Others argue that a child's diet has a tremendous impact on whether they are susceptible to ADHD. They believe that the intake of processed sugars, preservatives, and artificial flavoring is the main cause of this disorder. Studies from both sides have resulted in similar results. A definite cause is yet to be found.

Where do I get help?

The most common treatment for ADHD is behavioral therapy and emotional counseling combined with medication to counteract the chemical imbalance in the brain. Once formally diagnosed, you should seek the help from a psychiatrist or a psychologist that has experience with ADHD.

If the doctor tells you that medication is required, be sure to do research first before committing to anything. Drug research is very biased, and the efficacy of drug treatment is now being questioned by the scientific community. Be sure to read extensively about any drug that you or your child is going to take. There might be side effects that could damage the sufferer in the long run, regardless if they stopped taking the drug or not.

There are also many support groups available for children who suffer from ADHD as well as for their parents. These groups are forums where people get together with others who are suffering from the same thing and talk about similar experiences to help each other deal with the disease more easily.

ADHD provides detailed information on ADHD, ADHD Treatment, Children with ADHD, ADHD Symptoms and more. ADHD is affiliated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

The All New ADHD Article Resource Guide
A good thing about the online sphere and about serious and devoted professional help sites is being able to find accurate, timely, and really informative articles related to your search. You can spot a helpful ADHD article just this way. While we can find amazingly suitable materials in the regular bookstore on ADHD (Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder), such as Kate Kelly and Peggy Ramundo’s lifesaving book, or those equally useful works by Thom Hartmann, Shari Holden, and others, the ADHD article is quicker, more easily accessible by anyone anywhere in the world (online, I mean), and is just as valuable as written by an ADHD specialist, expert, and/or professional. Starting with the ADHD site or ADHD ezine (online magazine), you can find just about any ADHD article that you feel may be relevant to you: *BTE, borntoexplore.org, provides information and a number of helpful, informative ADHD articles for scholarship and personal use. *ADDitude magazine is online and by subscription, and has so many practical and realistic ADHD articles for the professional, the student, the parent, and the adult that you will definitely want your own copy! I came by the magazine through the college where I worked, and since then has read every magazine issue cover to cover. I then had to subscribe to resist the sinful temptation of keeping the copies I borrowed. You will also want to have a look at the following ADHD article databases: *The absolute premier site for ADHD articles is ADD Consults (addconsults.com). It will take you a little time to figure out how the system is constructed, but once you decide on a subject area, or sub-topic, you will get ADHD articles on everything from ADD strategies to co-morbidity information to ADHD articles about children and adults...
