Causes of ADHD

ADHD is an acronym which stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is a chronic, neurologically-based syndrome and is mostly found in boys. Several experts consider ADHD as a form of brain damage. ADHD sufferers generally exhibit three behavioral characteristics. These include hyperactivity, distractibility and impulsivity. Hyperactivity is the feeling of overwhelming restlessness that disallows sufferers to remain calm. Distractibility curbs the ability to complete simple tasks by sidetracking sufferers with irrelevant things. Impulsivity is the inability of patients to stop blurting out inappropriate things. Even though these types of behavior can be found in a lot of people, ADHD sufferers have them in the extreme. These behaviors might cause problems in their day-to-day lives. Causes The main cause of ADHD is still relatively unknown. Many experts believe that genetics may play a factor in its development. In the past, a lot of experts believed that a diet rich in sugar, preservatives and artificial flavorings causes ADHD. However, recent findings have concluded that a person's diet has no bearing on the progression of ADHD. Studies have shown that the main cause of this disorder is having a less than normal amount of activity in the part of the brain that controls attention. A child with ADHD is usually diagnosed by the age of seven and usually suffers from some form of learning disability as well. Treatment Once diagnosed, ADHD is typically easy to remedy. The treatment usually consists of counseling, behavioral therapy, and medication. Medication is necessary to correct the chemical imbalance that is present in the brain. The symptoms of ADHD will usually decrease as the child grows older. Any trace of ADHD usually disappears by the end of adolescence. However, there has been an increase in the number of cases where the symptoms of ADHD persisted until adulthood. ADHD provides detailed information on ADHD, ADHD Treatment, Children with ADHD, ADHD Symptoms and more. ADHD is affiliated with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
