ADD - Sometimes An Apple Is Just An Apple |

When you were a child, didn't you run around all the time for no specific reason. Didn't you constantly turn your attention from one thing to the next. Didn't you have a hard time sitting still? Didn't you have a hard time focusing on one thing, for long periods of time? You were a child and you acted the way most children do. You didn't think about things, you just did them because at that age, there was no thought process. Most children go through this stage in their early life, but science has come along and told us that maybe this activity isn't so natural. Attention Deficit Disorder, how do we define it? You would think with all the great minds in the world that someone... |

Symptoms and Treatments of ADD |

Attention Deficit Disorder is a condition that affects both children and adults, though it is more commonly diagnosed in children. Attention Deficit Disorder, also known as "ADD" is diagnosed in individuals who have difficulty paying attention or staying focused for long periods of time. Children with ADD often have trouble concentrating in class. Some display symptoms such as high energy, restlessness, waiting until the last minute to do assignments, having trouble concentrating on and completing assignments, and disruptive behavior. Other children are calm and seem distant. Some doodle or stare out the window while class is being taught, rather than pay attention. Children with ADD... |

Important Information On ADHD
Author:
Joshua Wills
ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This is a rather common disease that causes people to be over hyper and get easily distracted.
In order to make a diagnosis of ADHD you must go to a trained doctor who is aware of how to detect it. A lot of the symptoms that people get with ADHD are parts of other diseases and disorders.
Some people believe that ADHD is more of a problem with the mind that you just have to learn to get over. While there is usually mental issues that go along with having ADHD it isn’t a disease you can just decide to get over one day.
Some common symptoms of ADHD include:
Memory loss and forgetting where you put something or what exactly a page in a book said. This hurts school kids a lot when they forget what they studied for a test.
Being very hyper and not being able to sit still or be quiet.
Not listening to a speaker or ignoring someone when they are trying to talk with you.
One cure to ADHD is to be on a good diet. Being in shape and healthy will help keep you from being effected as much by ADHD and can help prevent it before it starts. There are also a lot of various drugs that can be taken that are made specifically to treat ADHD patients.
Another interesting cure is one on one coaching. Someone will help talk the patient through their life and help them overcome the obstacles that the ADHD throws in their way.
If you know someone who has ADHD recommend that they get it treated as soon as possible. While the disease usually doesn’t kill people it can greatly disrupt normal living and make life miserable for the person with ADHD.

Tips for Finding Professionals who Understand Adult ADD |
|
One of the biggest concerns that I hear from adults with ADD is that they can't find a professional who really understands adult ADD. Many people begin with their primary care physician or go through their insurance company to try to get evaluated and/or treated for adult ADD. Some very lucky people do find great professionals on their first try but the majority of people sadly do not. Instead they become even more frustrated which often leads to them not getting any help for their ADD. There are some ways to find professionals who actually "get adult ADD" : Online Listings : There are some websites with listings of professionals who treat adults with ADD. ADDA, the World's Leading Adult AD/HD Organization has a growing Professional Directory of people who treat adults with ADD. ADD Consults, the First And Only Virtual Online AD/HD Clinic also has a professional directory. In addition to the professional directory, Terry Matlen, MSW, ACSW also offers consultations in which she can help people find professionals. ADD Coaches : In addition to all of the other benefits people can get from working with an ADD Coach they can also get help locating professionals who can diagnose and help treat them. Many ADD Coaches network with other ADD Professionals around the country and the world. Word of Mouth : Try to locate other Adults with ADD who live locally. Many ADD Professionals who do understand adult ADD don't advertise their services. Many don't need to because they get plenty of referrals by word of mouth. Joining local ADD Support Groups is a great ways to not only get support but get recommendations for professionals who can diagnose and treat Adults with ADD. Adult ADD Meetups are similar to support groups and their Adult ADD Meetup Website allow for people to... |
